Which types of wedding photograpaher ?

There are many different approaches wedding photograpahers use to capture your images. Here are some of the popular trends in 2026:

Black & white film look: This is popular among the retro revival crowd. The resurgence of film is seing more weddings being captured entirely in monochrome.

Digital Retro look: A popular movement among millenials who use point & shoot digital cameras from the early 2000’s.

Tik Tok vertical with strong camera flash: This movement has grown quickly in social media circles where smartphones are the only camera used. The images and videos have a washed out flash appearance and are oriented vertically.

Journalist style : Shot sequentially as per the run schedule for the day. Photographer directs the couple at specific moments only. Photographer concentrates on capturing the main moments as agreed with couple. This method does not accentuate a story or thread any themes. The photographer takes a less prominent role shooting this way.

Documentary Style: Shot either sequentially as per the day’s schedule or in an out of timeline order. The photographer captures mostly candid moments of the day concentrating on the emotions of the bride & groom as well as pictures of spontaneous moments with the invited guests. The photographer may thread a story or theme in their photographs or video. The photographer takes a prominent role at specific moments, then blends into the background at other stages.

Directed : This style sees the photographer actively involved and prominent for most of the day, much like the director on the set of a movie. The photographer will carefully pose the bride & groom for many of the moments. This method may or may not involve a story or a common theme which the bride & groom wish to share. Photographs and video tend to involve a more polished look with higher production elements.
